Cedefop: Online job advertisements are becoming a key tool for labour market analysis

During an international expert meeting held in Thessaloniki, Cedefop presented the latest developments in the use of online job advertisements as a source of intelligence on skills demand across Europe. Analysing online vacancy data makes it possible to monitor the impact of the digital and green transitions, identify emerging skills at an early stage, and improve the forecasting of labour market developments.

Particular attention was given to the growing role of artificial intelligence in recruitment and hiring processes. Experts stressed the importance of transparency, human oversight and the prevention of algorithmic discrimination in line with the EU AI Act. According to Cedefop, the future of labour market analysis will depend not only on the availability of more data, but also on its responsible use to benefit workers, employers and evidence-based public policymaking.
