On 18–19 June 2026, the first BuildSkills Academy Masterclass, entitled “The Pact for Skills and What New Skills Will Drive the Twin Transition?”, was held in Brussels, Belgium. The event brought together more than 100 participants, both onsite and online, including representatives of European institutions, industry organisations, vocational education and training (VET) providers, higher education institutions, research organisations, and social partners.
An expert from the National Agency for Vocational Education and Training (NAVET) participated in the Masterclass, contributing to discussions on the development of skills required for the green and digital transition in the construction sector and exchanging good practices with European partners.
The event focused on key challenges facing the sector, including labour and skills shortages, the need for upskilling and reskilling the workforce, the growing demand for green and digital competences, the role of micro-credentials, and innovative approaches to vocational education and training. Participants also discussed the importance of strengthening cooperation between education providers, industry, policymakers, and social partners.
The Masterclass highlighted European solutions for modernising vocational education and training and supporting the development of a skilled, resilient, and future-ready construction workforce. The event marked the beginning of a series of BuildSkills Academy Masterclasses aimed at fostering knowledge exchange and promoting innovative approaches to skills development across Europe.
